I do not read minds. If I do, I will be rich.

today i got customers who wants me to read their mind.

here’s a joke.
customer : “I’m here to pick up my name card”
me : “which name card”
customer : “my name cards”
me : action :”shrugs”
me : went to the back and bring back a box of name card with “MY NAME CARD” printed on it
customer : “I said my name cards. these are not mine”
me : you said “my name cards”. you expect me to read your mind?

lol this is a common experience in the shop. but these 2 below are what happened today.

Miss A
Freehand user. Comes in want to print on own paper. ok. open up file.. 2 12×12cm artwork on different workspace… u expect me to print on 1 paper… I just help out just for today… put the 2 artwork together (her artworkspace was next to each other without gap for the first 3..) thus i outline the 2 12×12cm artwork and paste it on an A4 Artwork space… when i came up to the 4th and 5th artwork.. (the workspace was not next to each other anymore..) i just did what I did for the 1st 3… (with gap this time round - cool eh.. done in mins…) then when i am done with the 5th… the person told me… erm how come you never put the last 2 squares together. I need them next to each other joined… I am pissed off I am helping you already and u expect me to read you mind? @_@

Miss B (most prob from design firm.. but never work with printers like us.) walked in asking for her printout to be printed on A4. *artwork was not A4 in dimensions. I got to admit that the first printout had problem for first batch so i push it to another printer.

Customer came back with straight face. how come this area has a patch? err… ur floor tile has white patches in real and you want this spectacular spectrum of colour which our printer cannot print…. you expect me print what you see on the screen for you ah? (can if xerox guarantees that :P in your next life.) Customers are always ignorant. they are at a xerox or laser print shop. you will never get photo quality results. (mind you even photo developing shops will not guarantee results too.) if your printer/s tell you this area got a patch. you better take it 100percent he knows his job.

then i had to print the artwork in SRA3 due to the printer limitation (xerox printer cannot print well on paper edge and this is under xerox limitation. In the end customer got a A4 full bleed with fix dimensions minus the “white areas” then customer comes in.. er how come this is not A4… of course not a4 lar. ur picture not a4 liao u expect A4? she had to endure another round of bad mood printer from me. and after she is all done. she was asking if I needed the extra copy… (a4 - 1cm on one edge) I said no and took it off her.. she gave me the… “what the fuck” look. totally dumbfolded.. i was almost bursting out laughing… but i gave a stern look. coz I was busy talking away with my colleague.

When Printing. never expect a printer to read your mind. and never piss off your Printer coz he/she will dump you out of the print shop and your experience with another printer will be worst off than your first.
